New guy from LA

Post #1 by JohnnyB23 » Wed May 20, 2020 12:31 pm

Hey all, I’m new to the group and new to the in-line 6. I acquired a 65 Mustang in rough shape from a friend of my father. I’m in a quandary as what direction to go with it and I’m hopeful the knowledge in this group can help.

Welcome to the Ford Six site Johnny B, you will get the help you need from our site members. There many Mod's that can be done to those Mustangs to the engine and chassis. Good luck on your rebuild
A bad day Drag Racing is still better than a good day at work!

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.

65-66 Mustang is on my wish list for future project. So what is the rust situation on yours? Maybe some drive train details?

My 65 has a rusted out cowl and some rust at the passenger side back seat foot box. The paint is junk. It’s been a California car it’s whole life. She is a 200 in front of a C4. Supposedly the 6 has around 30k miles and the Trans was rebuilt just before she was parked for 10 years. I just got her to turn over a few days ago. The Load-a-matic is good, she has good spark but the Autolite 1100 is junk.

Oh so it’s a California girl those are the best from what I hear. That doesn’t sound like a lot of rust but it all takes work and I’m not a body man. But it’s worth putting money into. If you can just take your time and eventually get it the way you want them that’s good.
