Just a little shop talk

Post #1 by BigBlue94 » Mon Jun 04, 2018 6:00 pm

I had a guy come into the paint store (archetectural coatings) I work at with a race t-shirt on. He works at Neil & Parks Racing enterprises here in NE Kansas. He personally races a front engine dragster powered by a custom 430ci firepower hemi. He had to weld new cylinders in to get it to a .4375 overbore! Also running custom built super-high port heads.

But the main point of this was that one of his buddies races a 300 six. He said his buddy has at least two complete engines each running the Alan Johnson billet head. He didn't give me any E.T.s but made fun of his buddy for shifting at ONLY 8900 rpm. He did say that his 1500 lb (race loaded, inc driver) NA firepower hemi dragster would run around the 7 second mark.

Wish I had his number... would be a cool conversation .

:hmmm: did he mention what class he runs in or the fuel he uses?
A bad day Drag Racing is still better than a good day at work!

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.

If he did, I can't remember what class. I think it was a front engine dragster. Both run on gas.
