I saw this the other day and it is good. I don't know if I agree with some of the mods mentioned as needed. I had posted a ways back a comparison between the two motors: 170/200/250 vs a 300. They are darn close in size. Specifically, within an inch in length. Depending on your transmission choice, I don't think you need to do anything to the firewall.

Yes it sure seems more do-able than my original assessment before deciding on the 250. Somewhere I have the article that was in Bronco Driver on a 300 install and it was very detailed with good photos. I may order that back issue just to have. I wanted to provide all the info I had on this swap as it seems to be of interest to more Bronco owners than the 200/250.

Agreed. More information out there the better.

x2 bmbm... the 250's are harder to come by and so are the parts for them (at least here in CA). Jimmy's pulley setup is trick and I scoured the earth looking for that, to no avail. When I had my '66, I had (much later) future plans to stuff a 300 in there. I think that would be the ultimate drivetrain: 300, NP435 and NP203/205 (or just NP205 with Lomax gears).
Present: '89 Bronco XLT, 302 (no I don't like it, I'm just stuck with it at the moment), Bassani Shorty's, 4" Lift, 33" Grabbers

Upcoming: Hoping to get back in the EB game if the opportunity presents itself

Agreed. I like my 250 set up, but in hindsite feel the 300 would have been the better choice. Easier to find, more parts, etc. I didn't go 300 because of all the mis-info out there. I was told it wouldn't fit, it's heavier, modification required, etc, etc..... :bang:

I could photocopy that article if U told me which issue.
I have the 1st 50 - 100 issues (cept 4 #1&2 I believe).
Probably around a buck for photocopy, stamp, envelope, S&H. Let me know...

Lotta misinformation out there even in the article cited.

Thanks Chad- unfortunately I can't remember which issue it was in but am looking through some notes to see if I can get the issue number, it was a great article. Would like to make it readily available on this site but not sure about copyright conflict. I could just email it to anyone interested.
I too found little info on the 300 swap and it was not very accurate. I had originally envisioned a 300 with torque cam, head work, good compression, long tube headers and an auto od trans. Couple hundred pounds of torque available below 2000 rpm.

I remember the pic of him in the sno and sayin he "moved the motor dwn'n back", made up his own MMs, but not that it wuz a 2 part article. Don't worry bmbm; jimmy, U and Nevada Smith (our bronk buds) got plenty $ to bail out the site for copy right infringement with, cuz ALL the $ the casinos in NV keep givin U their gamblin $.

BTW: what issue is it?
