Stock bronco seat bolts?

Post #1 by Invectivus » Sun Jun 30, 2013 9:40 pm

I got my hands on a pair of the ugliest stock seats in the continental United States, and I have no bolts to bolt them in. I can't seem to find the specs on the bolts. Does anyone know the thread and size on them?

:hmmm: I think they are 3/8 -24 (but might only be 5/16 -24) the US National Fine thread (24) in the seat rails and they usually where a stud of about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches long. Or would need to be long enough to give several threads above the welded nuts on seat rails plus enough to go through floor pan and well past the washer head nuts used to secure them. You could probably also use bolts with a lock washer and flat washer of about 1 1/2 long.

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.

Sweet, thanks! I'll try to give it a shot tomorrow.

FYI, my 73 of dubious heritage required 5/16 18, not 24.

EDIT: Bolt size was jumbled in what I like to call my brain. All better now.
