60 Falcon Suspension Rebuild

Post #1 by TKulak » Sun Jul 26, 2020 2:39 pm

Trying to rebuild my front suspension today, upgrading to 5 lug. My question is, where the top of the coil spring meets the upper part of the shock tower is there some kind of guide? I now the spring has the rubber insulator on it, but my Mustang shop manual shows an Upper Spring Cap for the Mustang but I can't find any kind of replacement for that part. The Falcon Shop manual doesn't show that in the diagram. Anyone run into this? Any help appreciated. I could not get the image to upload, I can send it directly if someone has a question.

Yes on the Falcons there is a steel spring cup in the top of the the spring tower you can see them under the shock mounting bracket they have a flat side that goes towards the engine side of the tower. These spring cups have a flat rubber gasket between them and top of the spring tower. Don't know if they are reproduced or not. Hope that's some help to you best of luck
