Tie rod ends - early Comet to Maverick spdls?

Post #1 by powerband » Thu Feb 16, 2017 10:22 am

Plan trying '71 4 lug Maverick spindles on the '61 to be able to use later UCA/LCA/BJ's (upgraded 65 'stang app).

Any simple options for the tie rod end size difference other than the conical adapter sleeves for early small TR ends ?.

Are the early Tie Rods and ADJUSTING SLEEVES smaller threaded end as well?.

I have the complete steering setups from non-power '71 Mav' and a PS '76.

thanks for any pertinent info...

Besides using the tie rod spacers you could re-machine the tie Rod holes in the center link so you could use the later tie rod ends. You might even be able to change over to most all the Maverick parts with the exception of the center link. For a better center link with improved steering geometry look into adapting the 1965 Falcon / Comet V8 part. Good luck

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.
