1961 f100 power steering
The front axle and steering gear are 61 f100. On my Ratrod I want power steering. I've been told a Char Lynn torque generator off an old tractor would be a solution. But char lynn says not for hwy use it's to quick. i know they use them on sandrails. any thoughts? or just spend $800 for a rack and pinion made for my axle?

Re: 1961 f100 power steering
Take a look at the 1975 to early 1980's F150 power steering box and its pump I would think it could be adapted to the 1961 axle by going to a cross steering arangement. Some thing else that could work for you is a Ford power assist unit they were used on many Fords from about 1954 and up also on Falcons and Mustang to name a few. I used one off a Mustang on a 1956 F100 with a dropped front axle once. I got the idea when looking through the 1956 factory repair manual that showed a factory power steering option was available. Good luck

A bad day Drag Racing is still better than a good day at work!
I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone!
