Bottom of shocks creaking

Post #1 by StarDiero75 » Thu Aug 23, 2018 12:37 pm

Howdy guys.

Ive spent a year now on and off trying to diagnose why my front end creaks when someone is in it and by golly i found it! At first i thought it was the control arms, then i thought it was the shock itself, NO ITS THE SHOCK TO THE CONTROL ARM! I put these shocks in about a year ago. My wonder is, was i supposed to grease the bottom of it or something? I shot WD-40 down there and the problem is fixed, but thats not the solution.

It should have 4 doughnut rubber pieces for top and bottom, unless it only had bottom, i cant remember.

This is a 65 Ranchero.

Thanks guys!

Hi, a lot of these cars were squeaking from when they were new and we sprayed a lot of
WD 40 and other snake oil on the bushings, usually at every oil change. Good luck
