DETROIT DRAGWAY REUNION - 2016

Post #1 by THE FRENCHTOWN FLYER » Mon Jun 13, 2016 10:50 pm

I ran Nostalgia Comp last weekend at the event. Here's a pic in the first round. Had to run a AA/A blown big block T. Beat him. Got semi-finals. A broken water pump spelled the end.

Not sure if this car will be at the Inliners Convention in Dayton or the S/P car. Plus the Family Truckster.

Congrats! Too bad about the water pump. Have you considered running an electric water pump if allowed in your bracket class. I'm new to this so I don't know any of the rules or restrictions.

It was an electric water pump. A Jabsco brand. I switched to a Teel because that is what I use on the S/P car and now I have one spare to fit either racer.

Another racer came up to me later and said he watched me run the AA/A and said it was the best race of the day. I ran 10.58 @ 122 on a 10.50 dial and he ran 7.63 on a 7.50 dial @ 177 mph.

What fun!

Sounds like you had tons of fun. After I posted I got to thinking that it probably was an eletric pump that broke considering the application it was used in. Impressive times.

 FTF did you happen to video your run against the AA/A? :wow: I would like to have seen that!
A bad day Drag Racing is still better than a good day at work!

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.

Sorry - no video I know of.

We did get video of the Inliners International finals at Kil Kare last week. I had to race my team car, The Frenchtown Family Truckster, and that son-of-a-gun beat me. Before the finals I said to my TFFT driver, "George, lets split the purse. Put a dollar in your pocket and when I beat you, you owe me a dollar." They took a picture in the winners' circle of me handing George a buck.
What fun.
