Home Made Steering Wheel

Post #1 by drag-200stang » Mon Nov 28, 2016 1:24 pm

I was using a steel 12" in diameter steering wheel and it has to be 13" to be NHRA legal so I made this one out of some aluminum scrap I had. Bent it using a 3/4" conduit bender. I was going for the old school look and I think it turned out OK. Actually looks better in person. Camera jacks up the proportions. Now on to redoing front struts for more caster.

I'm surprised there isn't a requirement for a SFI sticker on one along with a expiration date.

looks good.
I can see them being against people running a steering wheel that is too small.

Nice job.

Be sure and round over the edges of the spokes so that if you impact something and the wheel spins back around it will not slice into your fingers.
