88-96 A/C options

Post #1 by Wesman07 » Sun Apr 16, 2017 10:06 pm

Hey guys,

I'm trying to figure how to run a Saginaw ps pump and a FS6 A/C compressor. I feel that is a robust set up.

When searching for brackets and compressors I've noticed there are front or side mount options?? What changes??

Apparently the econolines were the only vehicles that this was an option for? Is that also correct?

Are you still pondering this?

Yes, econolines are the only fords that got Saginaw pumps. Over on FSB, this is a very common mod. Brackets for the 300 serpentine setup are rare. 302/351 won't work, and neither will the 460. I managed to get the bracketry for my 85 v-belt conversion from a member there who scours the yards for them. For a serp setup, with everything but lines and pump he's about 200 bucks, including the pump cap.

There is a ton of info on FSB about the a.c. models, and conervting it all over to replace the ford c2 pump. Some have even incorporated the 88-97 factory hydro boost brake system into their swap. You'll find all the hose and fittings info there too, as well as methods of attaching the fs6 compressor. Some have also used a remote reservoir from later model vehicle's.

Let me know if you have any questions

I gave up on the AC as I had bigger fish to fry at the time. I would like to pick up on it when I start my next build. Do you have a link?
