spark plugs sticking out into chamber

On #1 in my aluminum head, the spark plug sticks out into the chamber about one thread on one side. In some of the others the plugs did not get to the chamber leaving threads exposed in the head. I fixed that problem while equalizing chambers, but I can't add on material to cover the spark plug thread on #1. Is this going to hurt anything??? Looks like it might get hot and glow, who knows.

What plugs are you running?

IIRC, my Autolites are just about flush with the chamber.

Hey Geezer. I have some Autolite Racing AR3932 plugs. They stick out a little on the intake valve side (looking down on the chamber on my bench), on 1,4,5. #1 is worst. Some of the others I had to grind around the plug hole to get the plug to flush out.
Also, cylinders 1,4,5 were 57.x the others were 55.x and took a bit of work to get equalized within 1/2 cc.

I'll reply to my own question. Got some plug indexing washers and did a little more grinding around the plug area; got them pretty flush now.

On our head they came out flush.

Maybe just a minor machining flaw.

But your fix should work just fine!
