Triple Mikuni 45 intakes

Post #1 by jlopes » Wed Mar 30, 2016 9:56 pm

Does anyone know if there are intakes for 3 side mounted Mikuni carbs for the CI AL head. I believe they should be the same as the intakes for the Weber DCOEs.

Does 10's has been working on a triple sidedraft weber intake for me in his spare time. AFAIK there were none ever cast, but flanges can be cut for the head side and the carburetor side, then can be welded up. I believe the power capability plus the looks definitely make it a worthwhile pursuit.

I know this is a different head ("Oz pre x-flow") but take a look at the 1st pic in the 2nd group of pic (after the mag. repro & at the head on the blue towel)

viewtopic.php?f=48&t=71241

It shows one adaptation of the head for welding on some tubes, then plates - to serve as a base for other co.'s intakes (Lynx, Batteman) for larger market carbs (SU & Webers). A 2 step process like this is a hassel but 1 way it was/is being done. The Offie currently in production wrks w/o cutting off the log for triple down drafts

I think 6 Mikunis have been placed directly @ the ports of a sawed off log and there are some flow charts/numbers recorded (40 yrs ago?).

Further down in this thread R pic of other carbs and the 2 intakes (ALL on these OZ heads which R out of production. I think the Lynx & Batteman R out too but the Batteman would not fit in our engine bays).
