VALE LOA

What is the OAL of the valves supplied with CIs aluminum cylinder heads?
Are the valves really sunk below the as cast combustion chamber surface?

Unless its a very early run of Australian CHI made heads, they are all the same as the Nominal Ford 170/200/250 replacements from SI Valves, all 4.260", page 27

http://sivalves.com/flipbook/2016-SI-Catalog.html#p=26

Std replacements Intakes I 2531 to 1976, I 3007 77-83.

Exhausts E 2530

Variance depends on application, for instance, Australian 2V 250 M code head

Valve Overall Length 4.286"

Stem Length
4.266 intake
4.278 intake
Tip Length
0.218 intake
0.224 intake

Note that the early heads had a specific valve spring, and were machined to suit the common Clifford supply parts, as Mike W used the common US supply, rather than the over size 0.342 intake /0.341" exhaust guide Australian valves.

The Clifford double valve springs worked perfectly and are now installed in my head. I looked all over there website and it appears that the don't make them any more. Glad I had some NOS ones in my shop! We also used their hardened valve locks and retainer.

IIRC they are 130 on the seat and 260 at lift.

I'd have to say since mine is one of the pre-production heads and was made in Australia that it wasn't machined the same as the later US made heads. Thanks guys for all your help trying to find springs for it!!

Later,

Doug
