A Datsun 280Z EFI Conversion Kit For Our Inline

Post #1 by rocklord » Tue Dec 11, 2018 10:53 pm

I was surfing the internets the other night and came across an EFI retrofit kit for the Datsun 280Z made by FAST EFI. The upgrade replaces all of the stock sensors with new over-the-counter parts (probably GM), eliminates the flapper door AFM, and adds a WB O2 sensor. The stock injectors and distributor are used. FAST EFI states that the system is "Self Tuning" and is capable of being run with larger cams, larger injectors, headers or any engine mods. The kit costs $1299.00 and can be purchased here:

This kit would be a way to install a MPFI system on our inline six. Of course machine work would be required to install injector bungs and fuel rail, but being "Self Tuning" would reduce a lot of the headaches in tuning.

Very interesting.

I don't know anything about these Datsun motors, how is timing controlled?

The kit I mentioned only does fuel injection, spark is controlled by a distributor.

The kit actually is wired for a V8. For a 6 cylinder, you only use six of the injector wires and tell the computer that you are running the system on a six.
