Old Sears Dwell/Tach/Voltmeter model 161.2124 has three leads??

Post #1 by F6 lathead » Thu Feb 01, 2018 1:09 am

I am getting ready to do a tune up and need to figure out the three leads on my old Sears Dwell/Tach/Voltmeter equipment. This particular one has a black and a red alligator clip and then a smaller green clip. I am not sure where the hook ups go? does anyone know where they go and for what purpose? I've checked You Tube but the ones they had there only had two leads, and black and a red, or a black and a green. Thanks

Black is ground, red is battery positive, green is the trigger side of the points.

hey thanks, I am going to assume that the trigger side is the distributor side of the coil? the wire that comes from the distributor?

also, will this hook up give me all three functions of the equipment? ie. tach, dwell, and voltmeter? only reason I ask is because in some of the manuals for different diagnostic equipment it says to put the connections (two connections) in different places. Thanks again.
