S10 T-5 Shifter location

Those of you gentlemen who have a s10 T-5 in your early body comets & falcons, how is the shifter placement in the vehicle, in regards to possible bench placement? Also does anyone have what the length of a s10 t5 might be? ie from mounting surface to end of tailshaft?
1962 Mercury Comet 170 ci, 2.77 Trans, 3.10:1 7.25 rear.

not really a ford thing, but related to t5 shifter location: I put a s10 2.8 v6 and a t5 in a chevette fifteen years ago. I used the main case from the s10 t5 and the tail stock and output from a chevette t5 to get the shifter in the right spot and use the stock crossmember and drive shaft. The actual shifter used came from a svo mustang (ford parts on a chevy, gasp). There are many different combinations out there, the t5 was in many different cars and small trucks. A search in a salvage yard with a measuring tape....
85 F150 on 78 bronco frame C6 np205 welded dana44 front, trussed posi nine inch rear. EFI exhaust manifolds into one 2 1/2" rolls on 35x12.5x15 Maxxis Trepador.
