Gear Ratio

Post #1 by lovemy95 » Tue Mar 06, 2018 11:20 pm

Interested in a 6” lift and 35” tires on my 1995 F-150 XL - L6 - 4.9L - 300ci. It is currently stock. What gear ratio should I run? Current gear ratio is 3.08. Thank you!

the carrier in the front has a split at about 3.73 or somewhere around there and if you go lower you will need a new carrier. Maybe time for a selectable diff locker?

I think I’ve decided to just go with some 31”s and buy a bigger truck later down the line. 31”s should fit the stock height and gear ratio right?

31s will fit fine and work well with the od trans and 3.08 gear ratio. Depending on the width and offset of rims you use you may find they will rub the radius arms in the front when turned to the stops but one quickly learns not to turn as sharp
