Manual Transmission, Ford 170 Cu In

Post #1 by Wascator » Thu Sep 28, 2017 2:24 pm

Hi, I am looking for a good manual transmission. My engine came from a 1970 Maverick; it has the 9 inch flat flywheel. Will a Ford 3 speed with overdrive from the 1930s work with this engine? I have run across some of these and did not really know they were available in the 1960s.

... 30's ?, 50's/60's B/W Ford 3+OD may fit Maverick 'Toploader pattern bellhouse - BUT, most early OD tranny had NON-Syncro 1st gear. Not a great tradeoff. Simple ' SBF' bellhouse adapter plate for Overdrive Fox-T5 5 spd.

have fun

Where are you located? I have good a 3.03 3 speed sitting in my basement looking for a home. Just take it off my hands. I'm in CT.

I put a Toyota 5 speed behind mine and found it great.
V8's are great but Six Inlines Just Fine. Cummins Advert.
