67 Crus- O- Matic

Post #1 by F6 lathead » Tue Oct 24, 2017 12:21 am

I have a 67 F 100 with the C4\Crus-O-Matic transmission, I have not had a chance to drive the truck yet, but the cooling method that it currently uses i.e. water through the cooling system, can it be improved upon, or is it fine.

Getting a good quality aftermarket auxiliary transmission cooler is a big improvement and will help the trans last longer. Another good idea is to install a good shift kit like TransGo. Good luck

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.

If you install the Transgo shift kit, i highly recommend to leave the original kickdown spring in the valve body. The Transgo spring is excessively too strong. When you floor it the Transgo spring requires so much pedal pressure you almost think you will bend the linkage.
