Geo Metro MC mounting options

Post #1 by rafaelb » Fri Nov 04, 2016 1:03 pm

I've gotten the parts to do the Geo Metro master cylinder conversion but I have a question on mounting options. Everything I've seen talks about drilling/enlargening holes etc to mount the MC but then I found this video on youtube:

https://youtu.be/QhSQK-Erd_o

where a guy uses two pieces of square tubing to both convert the hole pattern from four to two holes, but also seems to space out the booster eliminating the need to enlarge the hole in the firewall.

Anybody have experience with the second method versus the template/hole enlargement method?

Thanks!

Haven't done this swap but if I was I'd do it with the adapter method. Where some people run into trouble though is mounting the proportion valve too high or not running their brake lines correctly by having loops in them. You need to be sure that the master cyclinder is the highest point and everything else is mounted below it so it gravity feeds, otherwise there will be a lag in braking until presure is restored into the brake lines. Good luck

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.
