'66 Coupe - Rally stripes, hood scoop and chin spoiler additions

Post #1 by 60sMustang » Mon Jan 30, 2017 12:26 pm

I just finished some exterior upgrades on my '66 coupe and wanted to post the results for others who are thinking about similar modifications. I added a decal stripe kit, because I wasn't 100% committed to doing it in paint just yet. I also added a bolt on hood scoop and front chin spoiler. I'm normally not a fan of the chin spoiler on the '65-'66 model, but I do like the look with the black stripes and scoop.

Its winter here in Ohio so the pictures aren't the best inside the garage but I think you will be able to get the idea.

This was my first time installing vinyl on a car, and it actually turned out great. Also DRILLING and CUTTING the hood was a gut check time for sure, no turning back after that. Making a template out of cardboard was very helpful in laying out the holes and the center cut out. I'm real pleased with the results, but feel free to check out the pics and comment.

Stripes are a 3m vinyl decal kit I found on Ebay, Scoop is a fiberglass bolt-on style from CJ Pony and Spoiler is a Dynacorn from CJ's as well. Also found a cool little grille for the scoop that matches the front main grille.

Thanks! It's been a 3 year project and basically a total rebuild. 1st time restoring a car also, so learned a ton, plus it's a fairly simple car to work on.

 very nice, that's one great looking Mustang!
A bad day Drag Racing is still better than a good day at work!

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.
