85 to 88 front end swap questions

Post #1 by Jcdaniels2 » Sun Aug 27, 2017 10:48 pm

So I have my 85 f150 inline 6 and a newly acquired 88 f150 v8, I was curious what parts are swappable and if a complete front end swap would be feasible or are there parts not interchange able on these. Basically from the doors to the front bumber.

i believe they are the same generation F150, and as such everything should interchange with no issues. in fact everything from bumper to bumper, with the exception of anything wheelbase related, assuming different wheelbase trucks. that means the bed and the drive shaft wont interchange, and perhaps the fuel tank(s) if the wheelbases are different.

X2 With introduction of the 7th generation F100 / F150's for the 1980 model year run (in the US market) they got a new design of cab and chassis these were used until 1996 model run on the F150's and 1997 on the F250, F350. So there are lots of parts interchange. Good luck

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.

The only thing that I can think of that wont fit will be the wiring harness because of the different headlights and of course carburetor vs fuel injection
