(62 Ranchero) Remove door by removing hinge pins only?

Post #1 by 62Ranchero200 » Wed Mar 14, 2018 11:39 pm

Greetings Ford Six Fans,

I would like to sand and repaint the inside areas of the door not covered by the door panels, but with the door mounted, it would be very difficult to avoid getting overspray in the interior. Is it possible to remove the door by removing the hinge pins, such that when putting the door back on after painting, it wouldn't need any adjustment?

Thanks,
Bob

Knocking out out the hinge pins is a hard way of doing that job. Some pro body men after getting all gaps and lines right will drill a 1/4 inch pilot hole through the both hinges and the door then you use a pair of 1/4 inch pins or drill bits to line the door back in it’s perfect position. Good luck

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.
