Looking for floor shift setup for 63 Falcon 2.77 3spd

Post #1 by rzcrisis » Fri Mar 09, 2018 7:28 pm

I am considering moving from column to floor shift for my 63 Falcon/144ci with 2.77 tranny. Looking for something very reasonable with all pieces/complete to do this conversion. Will need to discuss shipping options to southern Ontario, Canada. Let me know what you have.

Thanks
Randy

I have a compleate 1965 Mustang 2.77 trans that has the stock factory ford floor shifter linkage everything except for the stock shifter handle. I am in the Flagstaff Az. Area.

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.

Hi Bubba22349

Would you consider separating the shifter assembly and pieces from the tranny? If so would it be a direct fit without any modifications given it is from a Mustang? That part I could afford the shipping for. I asked my wife if she would entertain a 3500km road trip to Arizona but I got the "look". :?

Thx
Randy

Does your 2.77 have a tail housing that has the mounting ears / boss for a Factory Ford type floor shifter? Many of the 2.77's don't.

Is it possible for you to post a pic of what you have so I can compare with mine?

Thx

This isn't my listing but the trans and shift linkage I have (is the same C4 casting number) will look just like it. I also just remembered that the Mustang shifter also sits further back than they do in the Falcons, so I am not so sure you could even use it in your car unless you shorten the shift rods. Maybe if your car has bucket seats it might work, measure from the end of trans tail housing forward about 1 1/2 inch this would be the centerline of were the shifter would come through the floor. In the case you have a bench seat then for sure your tail housing would need to be able to mount the shifter more forward to just behind the front gear case. Good luck

Thanks for the pics. After checking what I have yours will not work as I do not have the mount and have a bench seat. Maybe I will stick with my column shift for now. Thanks for the info!

I have used a Hurst aftr mrkt 3 speed shift kit on my 3.03 for 30 - 40 yrs.
I run a bronco w/a 170 motor.
The kit is a standard for mod frm column to floor assembly the bronk owners use/used.
It is actually for a bent8 (3.03), but we falcon motor guys use it.
Wish I had more info ~

Something to think abt either for ur use or just info.
Best of Luck wid yer search!
