Classic Inlines Head, built but never run - whats it worth?

Post #1 by InlineUK » Fri Nov 17, 2017 5:24 am

Perhaps the wrong section for this, so feel free to move mods.

Not been on here in years due to my project stalling.

I am in the UK. I purchased one of Classic Inlines alu heads years back for a project.
I have the head built with full roller rockers, valves and dampened single springs.

Unfortunately for various reasons the engine never got finished or ever ran. Car has now gone and the motor is just sitting.

I am thinking of selling the motor, but in the UK there isn't much of a following for the inline six so I doubt I could sell it for much. I am considering breaking the motor.

I thought I would see if there was any interest in the head on this forum and if so what sort of value it would be worth.
I could arrange shipping worldwide.

I also have a performace damper, DUI dizzy, bottom end has forged pistons and cam, and some other parts.

Thanks
Nathan

Hey Nathan,

I might be interested in the head with rockers, valves and springs. Do you have the alloy intake as well? How much do you want for all of it.

I’m from Germany so shipping shouldn’t be so complicated.

Thanks
Philipp

Yes I also have the intake and finned valve cover. I believe I also have ARP bolts for the intake, exhaust and cylinder head.

Make me an offer if you're interested :-)

Hey Nathan,

sounds pretty good but I dont really have an idea how much its worth altogether.
Do you have any idea on how much you want for it?

Hi Nathan,
so when the head are not sold, I’m very interested!
Can you send some pics from the head and also from the intakes?
When the engine are assembled, I think about to buy the complete engine.
I have the possibility to pick it up in UK.

You can contact me at fjr@mail.de

Best regards

Frank

Ive dug out what info I can find at the moment.

Engine block is a 1972 Mustang 250 (4.1l) I6.
Built for forced induction. My plan was for twin turbos.
Bored 20thou over.
JE forged dished pistons + plasma moly rings + ARP rod bolts
Rods were ground and polished
Fully balance rotating assembly
New bearings
Custom oil pan (also have a spare standard oil pan)
274/274 112* cam (224/224 at 0.05") and oil through lifters
DUI dizzy (curved for turbos)
Innovators West hydraulic crank damper
Modified stock timing gear and chain (modified to allow the cam to be installed advanced for turbo)
Billet flywheel and new clutch
All the bottom end work and assembly was carried out by a company called Valley Gas Speed Shop in the UK. Built around 2008. Stood covered every since. Still turns freely.
I spent probably £3-4000 on this short block.

I have one of the early cylinder heads purchased in 2007/08.
Single springs with dampers
Stainless valves with Viton seals
Full roller rockers
Alum intake manifold
ARP stud kits for the head and both manifolds

I also have a CSU 750 blow through carburetor built for this engine ($900 new)

I've agreed a sale on the complete head.

Bottom end is still available if anyone is interested. Either as a whole or in parts.

Nathan,

Do you still have the bottom half of the motor available? If so what parts do you have left and what are you asking for them?

Thanks

I'm curious about the JE forged pistons/balanced rods. What is the bore size of the pistons, and the recess volume?
What would you want for these two items?

I still have the whole bottom end available and the DUI dizzy.

I think the pistons are 20thou over stock. Dish is the same volume as a stock piston I believe. I'll have to dig out the receipt to check.

Happy to break the motor.
Open to offers on the parts. Will ship worldwide.
