FS: hooker super comp 6602

Post #1 by Llink78 » Tue Apr 02, 2019 12:31 pm

Selling my Hooker SuperComp 6602 header for the ford I250. These are new never used. We’re sitting in a garage down south for 10+ years. Just got them back from the blaster. They are 100% ready to be coated or bolted on. Will include brand new header gasket. No other hardware or gaskets included. Unfortunately I can’t let them go cheap. $650 shipped and insured. Will be cross posted. I will take PayPal (gift) Venmo or a postal money order.

Check out this website if you're interested in reasonable priced American made headers for our inline six engines.
Martin D. Schneider in California makes them, and for other makes of vehicles.
I purchased the single outlet long tube headers from MSDS a couple years ago for $375. If you opt for their Z95 ceramic coating @
$167, the headers will come with a 5 year warranty. They fit my 65 Falcon 2 door hardtop perfectly with no modifications to the engine bay.

That's totally awesome, I would definitely do that for a long tube header. Do you know if it is compatible with the 250?

What diameter are the primary pipes & how long are they? Are they equal length??/

I gave them a jingle this afternoon, spoke with Martin, and he gave me the following specs:

- primary tubes are 1.50" od mandrel formed USA grade cold-roll tubing
- Lengths are as close as possible, but known as Pulse Tuned lengths
- Secondaries are dual 2.50" od collectors

Hope this helps. FWIW, I’m eyeballing these for my build (partially because they’re a stone’s throw from me).

I also found a superior header gasket that I used for my 200 six to mount these headers. Check out a Remflex # 3016 graphite header gasket. It's pricey, $ 48.99, but it's the best quality gasket so far that I have found. I also used Stage 8 # 6913 locking header bolts (Summit @ $ 49.97). These unique fasteners have a teardrop shaped plate that attaches to the tightened bolt head using a circlip to hold it in place. The plate is positioned so if the bolt ever wants to loosen, the plate hits the header pipe, not allowing the bolt to loosen. FYI, the MSDS header mount holes are a bit larger than the Stage 8 header bolt head. I used a flat washer on each bolt to compensate for the larger header bolt hole. This combination of header, gasket, and fasteners make for a good looking reliable high performance exhaust system.

I'll stick with the Hookers.
The primary pipes are welded on the engine side of the flange, thus seal better.
I don't know if the flanges are as thick as the on the MSDS headers.
The primary pipes on the hooker are longer.
If i had a CI or VI head & a 250" engine i would prefer 1 5/8" primaries.

Bump. Will take reasonable offers. Been staring at them and thinking about using them, but could use the money.

Hi Dons66, these headers are designed for and are going to fit properly only when used on a 250 engine in a 1960's to 1977 Ford chassis / body like a Falcon, Comet, or Maverick. Due to the height difference of the taller 250's they would hang down way too low if they were bolted onto a 170 or 200 engine. Yes they will fit on a low mount starter, all the 250 engine blocks will have the same low mount starter location. Good luck
