Trade SBF 6 250 CI shortblock for a 200 shortblock

Post #1 by super4ord » Sat Jun 13, 2020 12:46 pm

Like the title says, I'm looking to trade a 250 SBF 6 for a later model dual bolt pattern 200 SBF 6. It's a 70K mile engine from a Maverick. It is the original standard bore with original Ford pistons. I think it is fine to freshen up without overboring. I debated about disassembly even to check rings & bearings. The shortblock has not been disassembled. The oil pan has not been removed & the balancer has not been removed either. I sold the head off of it a few years ago, but can supply a late model big log head if someone wants it. I have purchased some parts to refresh it. That would include a timing chain & gear set, oil pump & distributor driveshaft & alternator bracket set.

I have cleaned the block deck & stripped one side of it to bare clean metal. I have knocked out the old freeze plugs also. The insides from the top side seem to be in really nice shape. It was a smooth running engine when I purchased it a few years ago. My plan was to disassemble the engine check everything out. Replace bearings & rings, timing set & oil pump while apart. Put in a new cam and upgrade the head to hotrod it for a T-Bucket with a 34 truck cab instead of the open top Model T cab.

I have decided to stick with the 200 engines only to simplify things, because I have inherited my Father's 2004 & 1983 F-150's. Those two along with my wife's Dodge Caravan, my HHR, the 1980 Mustang project & Reverse trike are about all I can handle. I only have a 3 car garage & live in a neighborhood in Oklahoma City. I have no room for other projects any more.

I also have a 170 short block to rebuild, if anyone is interested, I will give more details. It has already been disassembled & cleaned. I would sell or trade it also for a later model 200 or 200 block. I can take some pics if anyone replies. PM me or email me at super4ords at cox dot net. This would be a great deal for someone around the OKC area.

Thank you,

Darrell
