air pump delete smog, alternator bolt in the way

Post #1 by jjona5 » Mon Sep 19, 2016 12:22 am

So I plugged up my air injection rail and installed my new valve cover gasket, 4 hole injectors, and saginaw pump setup this weekend. I had planned on deleting the pump but just using a shorter belt but the belt route went right into the lower alternator bolt. I feel like if I upgraded to a 3g alternator and it used the outer bolt holes it would be fine. Also though about getting one of the small overdrive pulleys for the 3g which might also let it clear. Any ideas on an easy way to delete?

we have 1989 f150 and we removed the smog pump and just got a shorter belt no issues at all.

I ended up using a larger 3g big body alternator which used different holes and an overdrive pulley and it all fits fine now. I have 140 amp 3g alternator and my air pump is out of the way.
