bigger fuel tank

Post #1 by SteveP » Sun Mar 05, 2017 12:51 am

I have an 86 F150 short wheel base with dual tanks. It only has the front tank in it and it's badly rusted so I'm going to replace it, as well as install a rear tank. I want to go from a 16 gallon front tank to a 19 gallon tank. LMC, Summit, etc. show the 16 gallon tank as being for short beds and the 19 gallon tank for long beds. Will the 19 gallon tank fit under the short bed without any problems?

I know this a bit late to respond. I tried to do a similar thing with a 96. it won't work with out modifying the bracket. Probably more work than its worth. If your doing the back tank too then I wouldn't worry about going to a bigger front tank.
