Interesting debate

Post #1 by [T00lbag] » Thu Mar 14, 2019 10:04 am

I wanted to throw this out to everyone because it has garnered some rather interesting responses.

I currently own a 1964 Mercury Comet. Which is a good old car that I really like.

I am also considering trying to get ahold of a 1963 Mercury Monterey with the Breezeway window.

So. The big question is this:

If I own two Mercury's...does that mean I've turned into a Ford man? :hmmm:

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.

My neighbor says that if I have two Mercury's he is going to start calling me 20 cent. A commemorative tribute to the Mercury dimes minted from 1916 to 1945.

so if the first words in cursive text my kids can read is "ford" and any time we drive past a dealer the kids chime "lookit daddies favorite store" does that make me a ford guy?

our family ride was a 79 gmc suburban and my dad was a chevy man through and through but I guess I rebelled and now i have him driving a 11 ranger 4.0 4x4 that I put super swampers on for him so he wouldn't get "stuck on a wet kleenex" and he loves it. This ford bug must be a bit contagious.

My best friend growing up had a '63 Monterey, with the 390 " Maurauder" engine. Man did that car have rust. His Uncle purchased it new in '63 with every option but air conditioning.
If you get one , let me know as I'm pretty sure he saved the rear bumper when he finally junked it ( over 15 years ago, I save alot of stuff too, but damn, a rear bumper for a '63 Mercury ?).
We had a lot of fun in that car, you should have heard it when he rebuilt the 9" rear "by eye" with no gauges or experience, it HOWLED going down the road....
