Best bell housing for 200 big bell (Aluminum or Iron) ???

Post #1 by Gom212 » Thu Mar 05, 2020 5:42 pm

I've been researching and looking up bell housings for my 200 big bell and i think i will have to do modifications on it to fit my stock 79. What is the best bell housing out there that i should get? Is Aluminum better than Iron housing and which one is stronger and that will last me longer. :help: :help: :thanks: :thanks:

I don't know if this will help but for the od trans conversion on my 66 Bronco I used an aluminum bell that was apparently from a 289 Mustang. Of course it bolted right to the 250 which is sbf bell compatible. I remember it seemed fairly light but have not had any problems and Broncos are heavy. I would go aluminum to save a few pounds.
66 Bronco-1970 250, NV3550, DSII, 4 turn ps, uncut, 1" bl, 2.5" sl, front disc, twin stick D 20, 30 x 9.50
NEXT- direct mount 1.08 on D8 head, power brakes, rear limited slip, 3G, electric fan, electric upgrades, custom curved DSII, header, 31" tires
