Hey Roy...what's up with the black engine paint? Is that period specific for 1965 or do you just like black?

Gene when i bought the car the engine was black... Only the air breather and valve cover was red...

So I just kept it black...

Hey Echo,
I'm over in Chandler, AZ near MPGMustang. I'll be rebuilding my 200 soon too, but going alot more low buck than you! I'll be watching this post to see how it all works out.
Good luck!

Well don’t give up on me pikesan.. you just might finish yours before I finish.

I still need the dual roller rockers, DUI and some cheaper parts…
(under 200 bucks)

Im in Surprise.. haven’t been here long enough to know where MPG and Chandler is…
It was all I could do to find Speed World and its only a couple miles from me…

Double Flair 3/16 “ Break Lines

CobraSix gave me the idea to change my single cylinder master cylinder to a dual cylinder. Thank ya CobraSix.
I took pix of the change over but I cant find where I put them.
But CobraSix has a good review HERE

I used 3/16 “ CNF-3B Cunifer Alloy Brake Line from FEDHILL

The use of FEDHILL idea came from jdn21758. Thank you jdn21758 it works great…

I had the good fortune of growing up wid a twin brother. I could never tape and float an inside corner. I could never get a good double flair using the tube cutter.
My brother could tape and float an inside corner fast, sharp as a tack and smooth as silk. He could also make a double flair using the normal tube cutter with one eye closed, the other eye staring at me and laughing his (buttock) off.. at me..

Any way this is how I dun did it and I don’t see any leaks..

I started here.. Thank you CobraSix..

002Cutting.jpg

As you can see my tube cut sucked big time. So I fell back on my trusty ban saw. Good straight cut.

003Filing.jpg

1: File burs off and straight.
2: File a good chamfer
3 & 4: I Used 500 grit and repeated 1 & 2:

004Flushoil.jpg

The left image is flushed to top of fitting or miss slightly on the low side.
Right side with fitting in place and a drop of oil.

0051stflair.jpg

1: With fitting centered ready to shape this guy.
2: Compressed until fitting is flush with holding tool.

006finalflair.jpg

1: I removed the 1 st flair tool then applied oil to the head and compressed until I ran out of strength.
2: What I ended up wid..

007FinalFlair.jpg

Another look at the results. On the right side you can see the only mark the tool left. Not bad at all for me any way..

001Proto.jpg

My Prototype. Man I like high-plooten words… Worked great.

007Formfit.jpg

A plastic bottle of liquid tape and I had a perfect form.

008Installed.jpg

Finished and in place. Don’t look half bad..

Pikesan, I don’t know why I posted my tri carb offy in a separate thread.
But you can see some of what I did HERE

Looks good (y) But is that a copper line? If so it's not a good idea for brake lines

Hey bubba whats up.. (y)

It's a different kind of copper I guess.
It is approved for USA break line service.
You can read up on it Here

Nice job on the double flair, I always have trouble with that.
But I haven't used oil so that may be the ticket.
And a better tool would help too...

Is that copper brake line easier to flair?

Hi echo1955,

Interesting :eek:opsie: so thanks to you I learned about something new.

You are doing a clean job on your Mustang build up. Looks like you will be ready to go for a cruise real soon.

Hey JackFish.. how ya doing.. Better tool always make better helpers..
Light oil is an important key. Without it the flair gets small scarring and can leads to leaks and looks crappy to boot.

All I ever double flared before was steel and that was 30 years ago. I don’t recall it ever being to hard once I started using the ban saw. This copper looking line was easy but it took me some strength to get it.

Younger folks with more strength would probably walk right through it..
This is for sure. Shaping it is FIRM but walks circles around steel and forget SS.

Leo

Well I don’t recall that one in particular Leo, but I do remember these:
Lead fallow or get da he*l out of my way.
And this one:
Do Or Die..
This one will probably be the last words out of my mouth before I takes me last breath..

0001OrigFitReference072.jpg

This is my PS bracket.. in it’s normal position

001PSPClearance072.jpg

But it interferes with my DUI distributor. I need some clearance as seen in the photo.

002ModifyPSPumpMount072.jpg

By pivoting on the bottom bolt you can see where a new bolthole will go at #2.
Then I have to fabricate a piece at the top mount #1.

004BotomBrace072.jpg

Then reshape the bottom mount at circle…

This should workout ok..

Hey jdn you may not believe this..
But…… I say BUT
One fine day I was just searching the web for a local Mustang Club to join here in the Phoenix area.

I accidentally tripped over the Classic Inline site thinking it might have some info on Classic Car Clubs.

One keystroke lead to another… then I stumbled into your thread with the Tri Carb Set Up…

Other than that
today I would be driving my boring Fastback to car shows with a dull 1v carb…

So thank you again jdn… (y)
