Info-Pic request: V8 Quick-steer Pitman/Idler

Post #1 by powerband » Wed Aug 02, 2017 2:41 pm

Gathering parts for 65 FALCON V8 type steering conversion on '61 Comet with Maverick spindles.

Spec'g the steering center Link , 1" Pitman arm, Idler Bracket and Idler Arm ,Inner-outer Tie Rods.

I'm checking out the 65 (Mustang) 'Quicksteer' Pitman and Idler, and wondering if it will fit with the SIX car 'Belly-Bar' - under engine reinforcement bar?. Quicksteer arms are supposed to be 1" longer (towards front/down) than stock 65 arms.

Otherwise, I think the stock Pitman/Idler will fit with the SIX car 'belly-bar' ??. ... Shelby.axd

:hmmm: it sounds like the QuickSteer parts were patterned after the 1965 Shelby GT 350 parts. Good luck
A bad day Drag Racing is still better than a good day at work!

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.

I can at least confirm for you that the 65 Falcon V8 stock parts do work with the I-6 belly bar. And I have an Opentracker racing roller idler arm that will also clear. Not sure about the quick steer stuff. Would like to know as well.

Assuming the Maverick spindle is similar to the Granada, you may need to cut 1/8" of threads from your tie rod ends and sleeves to shorten everything enough for it to get the toe right.
I got 350 heads on a 305 engine. I get 10 miles to the gallon, I ain't got no good intentions.
