Installing classic auto air conditioning - 65 200 cid

Looking for words of wisdom and assistance -

Have just about finished installing classic auto air conditioner but have a clearance problem between the ducts going to the defroster and the wiper blade arm mechanism. Installed first set of ducts, and then turned on wiper blades and they got shredded.

Any ideas or recommendations?
