I'm thinking about building a cast iron head x-flow 250. Will xe/f fuel injection manifold bolt on? I realise the head would have to be relieved for the injectors. Do the heads have enough meat in them without cutting into the waterjackets? I know the cast iron head came in the xd povo spec, but what previous models featured the iron cast head? If your wondering why I want to use the iron head is the the motor is to be used in a succession of demo derby cars and the motor will have to run hot.
thanks
Simon

Cast iron heads are very strong, theres another 51 pounds of metal in them.
You'll have to get the factory EFI, and make up new injector rail, close up the no 6 injector position, and make allowance for the fact that each port is t a different angle and height.
A pain in the butt, but not impossible. Saw a stock XC or XD intake and match the EFI rail to it.The water jacket can be taken care of by hooking one big line to it, and running it to the heater core.
The best option is to use the old alloy head. Hey, if turbos run low tens in 3500 pound Fairmont Ghias, making the old girl last won't be an issue. O ring the head or araldite it. If it blows, get busy on the cast iron head.
The alloy head can melt around the exhast valve seat if run for a good half hour without water, often at number 5. Been there, done that.
