Which manifold studs?

Post #1 by huntnfish08 » Mon Aug 06, 2018 6:41 pm

I'm hanging efi exhaust manifolds and a Clifford 6=8 intake in place of the stock logs. I figured new studs would be a good idea now. It's a '78 engine.
Wondering what manifold studs You guys use?
The napa guy couldn't seem to find them on his computer.

I used to sell the stud kits. You can find all you need at Hillcofasteners dot com. Get grade 8, 3/8" stude with the coarse threads into the head, and fine threads for the intake/exhaust. Use anti seize on the stud threads in the head. Use a crimp nut for the exh/intake with the oem thick washers. Run to hot, cool, retorque twice and forget it.

Oops, 2--2.25" inches long.

What's a "crimp nut"?

Self locking. Also known as Stover nuts. Nylocks don't work in this application. The nylon melts out.
