Best 2 barrel adapter

Post #1 by takehikes » Fri Sep 14, 2018 7:32 pm

Installing Offy DP and going to run 2100 1.08 carb with manual choke. What manifold adapter would be best? I’ve found answers all over but want to hear from you. Thanks!

I'm running an Offy C with a MC 2150 carb using a TransDapt 2065 adapter.

I like you have a Offy DP intake manifold. The DP is much different than the open chamber C manifold. The DP was made for a 4 barrel carb that the primary flow down one set of runners and the secondary down the other. The DP was a low performance intake from the gas war times and does not adapt to a two barrel like the 2100. If you are going to run a transdapt 2065 adapter you need all the runners to be on the same plane. See if you can find a Offy C and you will be real happy with the 2100 1.08 setup. This is why I am not using my DP as I also want to run a single 2100 1.08 carb. Good luck with your project.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no 4v-2v adapter for the Offy DP. As old28racer says, the DP is for a 4v and it is not readily adaptable to a 2v.

If you are dead set on running the DP with a 2V carb instead of a C-series intake. Install a 2" open 4V carb spacer between the intake and the adapter. That would give it a small common area/plenum to feed all the ports. Not the best set up, but better then trying to run it with just the adapter on the intake.

Do yourself a big favor, sell the DP intake and buy a used Offy C to do the change correctly. You will be happy you did.

The DP was make to be a low performance gas saving 4v intake and it is mostly junk in any other situation. :bang:

If you decide to sell the dp I would be interested. The dp is not a bad intake at all for a 300. The C is just a lot easier and cheaper to try different carbs. I used a dp with 1" phenolic spacer and a 500 cfm eddy carb on a truck for a couple years. Once dialed in, I was very happy with it. Dont be worried about running a 4 barrel carb. 90% percent of the time you will be running only primaries anyway. Good luck. Steve

Don't get me wrong, the DP intake works OK with a 4V carb but not so well when converting to a 2V carb setup.

Like Fordman75 said use a 2" open spacer under your 2065 TransDapt adapter. This way you can use your DP, save some cash and you will be able to run your Autolite 2100 1.08 like you set out to do.

Good luck with your project.
