Hello friends, I've been rooting around the site for a few weeks now and learning as much as I could before posting. Being the opportunist that I am I just couldn't pass up the chance to buy this very clean 1963 F100 Longbed with a 233. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do next. I think my goals are actually short term. I'd like to get this running and sell it to someone who can invest more into it.
Currently the heads are off (off when I bought it) and at a machine shop. They've cleaned and inspected and suggest a $700 valve job. They also said the rocker arms are a little tired and so are pushrods but they don't have any rebuild parts for the rockers. Carb needs a rebuild. Dist & points look good, brakes and bearings good. Frame and body are surprisingly straight with some surface rust but I've degreased and pressure washed everything, paint is primer with very little bodywork/bondo, floors are rusted through both sides but not to bad. I think I have all badges and pieces.
I guess my first question is for a recommendation on the engine. Should I try to save some money and lap the valves myself, or do the head job, or are the any crate/rebuild options.
Same thing with the carb. I believe I have the autolight 1V. Is there a good rebuild kit or carb replacement.
