hi guys, I'm trying to revive a 170 that has been sitting 10years. i lubed the top end, and have been cranking it over without plugs, trying to get the oil pump to pickup the oil. i even tried putting oil in the pressure sensor hole. it just won't do it.

i'm kinda scared to just start it with my fingers crossed.

any ideas?

 The best way would be to pull the distribitor then use a drill and prelube the engine before starting when you see the signs of oil pressure i.e. Top end oiling your good to go. Good luck

start as bubba said, and if you still cant get oil pressure, then you will have to drop the pan. the pick screen could be plugged, loose, the pressure relief valve could be stuck open, etc.
