I was wondering, for a 1970 maverick w/170, what are the hp and tq ratings? (at the crank)

Also, with a cam, p&p head, 350cfm and headers, what kind of gains would I be looking like?

It should be 105 hp/156 tq. Gross numbers, of course, which means actual output as installed is about 75/120. Give or take.

Not sure about modded numbers, but would maybe be 15% less than a comparable 200 due to lesser displacement with mostly the same internals.

If you milled head to bump compression too I dont think 135-140 Bhp Is unrealistic.

So that would mean with the mods I listed, plus higher C/R I could hit those numbers at the crank?

My goal was 130hp anyway for that engine. What kind of tq do you think I would have at that point?

Is it a 70 or a 69.5? The way to tell is by where the Ignition key goes. If it goes into the steering colunm then it is a 70. If it goes into a switch on the package tray then it is a 69.5, a raer find.

I don't own a mav yet, I'm just doing research to see if a 170ci mav would fit what I want. Does it matter if it is a 69.5 or 70?

Dang! I've never seen a switch on the package tray! You mean you climb into the back seat and stick the key in a hole near the back window?

Yes, I know, I'm a pr!ck...

Im guessing between 175 to 190 ft lbs.

Score, 130hp/180tq would be fine. Especially since those early mavs were between 2400-2600lbs depending on the year. Throw a T5 on there, 3.73 gears in the rear and it'd be good to go.
