there's a guy on here selling a 200 six out of an 80 Mustang, and I'm wondering how tricky ot would be to put that into my '60 Falcon? I know the older sixes will all bolt in, but I'm assuming that a later engine wouldn't be that straightforward. Am I right?
Thanks,

80-83 200s have low-mounted starters. According to the Performance Handbook, the starter will rub on the steering centerlink and the bellhousing pattern probably won't take your stock transmission. The centerlink can be flipped I guess...get the handbook if you don't have it, it lays it out pretty clearly

So it should be possible to get around the starter issue by flipping the centerlink, but it looks like I'd have to go with a newer tranny. I'm guessing that would mean either an auto or putting the shifter on the floor. Has anyone done a similar swap? Will there be issues with tunnel clearance for a newer tranny?

I just pulled a 81 200 from a Mercury capri with a high mount starter. check the engine first if possible could be an easy swap.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out. I'm guessing I would still have tranny issues, right?

I flipped the centerlink in my '63 when putting everything back together (not on purpose  ) and the steering was messed up!
