Great articles in your tech section. Eventhough I have built alot of diferent cars I6's are new to me. I have a 65 Ranchero 200-3 on the tree, would like to add AOD soo what year 200-250 and AOD do I look for? Maybe a shopping list of sorts since this will probably become more popular as gas prices continue to rise

Any 250 will work so long as you get the correct flexplate. The 250 has the same bellhousing bolt pattern as a SBF.
Most of the 200 have a different pattern.

In the tech page they speek of two different 200's and show how to addapt a v-8 bell housing. Witch 200, and is there a better AOD meaning non computerized?

I think the other 200 there talking about is the big bell 200 which came out in the 80's I think.. It has the same bolt pattern as the Small Block V8's...

OK
I just looked at the tech page and its talking about the E1BB-200. So that would be an 81 and the BB = Big Bell. The E is for 80 year and the 1 is for that specific year of that decade... D = 70 , C = 60 and so forth...

actually it has a 2/3 V8 bolt pattern. the block deck is too short for the full V8 patern. with the adaptation procedure in the tech section though it could be adapted.

What years were the bb200 and the 250 made? Just a V-8 guy who now is having fun with I6,s. Thanks everyone...Jim

All AODs are non-computerized. The tranny which replaced the AOD is the AOD/E or its wide ratio variant the 4R70W which is computerized. Various models made the change to the elrctronically operated tranny in differeny years. IIRC, the Mustang changed with the 94 model year and was among the last to make the change. Nothing 94 or newer came from Ford with a non-computerized tranny.

Baumann offers a stand-alone controller which allows installation of the "E" tranny in non-computer vehicles. http://www.becontrols.com/

the 250 was made from 1969 through 1978 or 79.

the big bell 200 was made from 1979 or 80 through 1983.
