200 CID Pilot Bushing/Bearings....1966 vs 1967

Hey guys,

I've got a 1966 Mustang 200 CID with the 9" flywheel that I'm rebuilding.

I've got a 2.77 three speed manual (un-synchronized), the bell housing casting number is C60A-6394-C.

When I ordered the clutch, the supplier gave me two pilot bushings, one being for 1966 and one for 1967...just in case I need it. They definately look different....photos attached. These aren't the actual bushings sent, but look just like what I received. One has a lip, one does not.

The problem is, the original pilot bushing was missing before I started the rebuild and I'm not sure which is for '66 and which is the '67.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I think it's the one with the lip. Try bolting the flywheel on and measure from crank hole to face of flyw. Than measure from disk face if you have clearance your good to go if it's too high than you use the other one.

With my 2.77 with my 200, the bushing had no lip. But then again, I didn't realize they changed bushings. Honestly, fit them to the input shaft of the transmission, see if the ID of the bushing fits.

You are better off using a pilot bearing, than a bushing. It's a $20-30 investment (why the "kits" don't supply the best product, cost cutting). A bit of searching will come up with it. Most of the mustang suppliers will have a part.
