hello..im new and im new to these engines..I bought my little falcon for 600.00 bux and drove her home....it needs alot but is (was running nice)..today however started leaving a trail of blow by behind her...and rather than build the 144 over Im considering a swap...a friend owns a salvage yard and can help me find a engine but I dont know what or where to look for...my budget is tight so im not wanting to race her ..im more into fiftys style looks so not worried about keeping original....but would love to hear advice from you all driving these engines....love the site and have plenty of other qwestions butfor another time..thanx

Any 200 except for the 81-83 "big bell" will be a direct swap for your 144. The only real difference is going to be the rear sump oil pan and pickup on the 78-81 Fox bodies, and the lack of an opening for your raod draft tube on any engines after 68. But that's simple. You just keep the old pan and modify the pickup to fit the pump, and you use a late PCV to vent the engine.

If all you are interested in is getting her up and running good- I have an excellant 144 that I will let go cheap. I am building a 200 hop-up and the current 144 runs excellant -uses no oil, runs exceptionally well for a 144- you would need to take the oil pan ,pck up tube, and rocker arm off your engine as i will be useing these on my 200. Unless you get to me before i take those things off and just bring me yours. and if your timing is right you could take motor, bell, clutch, and tranny all in 1 piece complete with carb and everything, as i have a large bell and a 4 speed working for my wagon ( getting a hell of a pile of parts built up)and will buy a new flywheel & clutch set-up for the swap.
How far are you from Atlanta?

I'm in arkansas......guy arkansas..72061...how much would you need for the 144?
