Hey guys...still not much going on due to $$$...lack thereof. Still got the house but it's been a character building 12+ months.
Like I'm the only one ha-ha. Anywho...saw some pretty cool videos on log mods...and since it doesn't cost anything to chop one up I figured I could take out my FRUSTRATIONS on it....in a controlled manner. The scrap pieces will be used for practicing my cast iron welding with an old Henrob torch. Will probably install short tubes to a flange and then go from there. Just something to do to keep my mind and hands busy till better days slap me upside the head : )DSCF5499.JPG

Well, you’ve got my interest. I’ve seen some pretty neat mods that go straight up and mate 3 down draft 2 barrel carbs (Weber 38/38). I think that could be set up quite effectively. Removing that big log will probably reduce the heat around the carb too. Maybe a heat shield that deflects heat from the exhaust could be incorporated into your design too.

.
... if you can 'practice' with the Henrob, there's most anything you can do with the cut-off area.
.
always liked the box plenum - with a square bore 4Bbl flange to make carb/FI swaps simple ...
.
equal length tubes to a carb or turbo flange could be most effective ...
.
still have to consider fitting fab' in and under hood...
.

have fun

Thanks for the ideas...much appreciated. "will probably reduce the heat around the carb"...made me think of something I haven't thunk about in near 50+ years. As a kid my friend's uncle use to take us to US 30 drag strip..."where the great ones run" was their radio ad. Got to see Big Daddy back in the day...what a thrill as a kid. Anyhow...I remember asking my friend's uncle "what's that can next to the engine was with the 2 tubes running to it?" I think it was an altered coupe or something like that. Uncle said it was a "cool can"....that there was a coil inside and you would put ice in the middle of the coil...was used to get the gas cold so it would burn better or faster(?)
I'm sure some of the guys here know more of the history of the "cool can" than I do.

Thanks for the info and the pics...nice work!
I figure the worst I can do is screw it all up : ) Make peace with the that possibility and then go about the task at hand without worry.
My old manager when I was in field service didn't like my philosophy...wish I had a photo of his face when I told him that 😧
If I ever get the funds to build my 200 and 300...the plan was to build a test stand and just try some different options. No final destination for either engine so hood clearance is no problem. Kicked around the idea of building a bike frame for one of then : ) Right now both blocks are cleaned and casting crud removed, bagged and waiting for $$$ for the machine shop. Better days are coming...they're just on backorder.
