i'm looking to pick up a 6cyl out of a 65 Mustang possibly. i'm going to look at it this weekend but i asked the guy to give me the #'s. these don't seem like the #.

what are these #'s? 6015-B

thanx

What you're looking for is going to be C5DE-6015-B I believe. C5 = 1965

DE = Falcon (1960-69) Engine [I believe the only mustang casting codes for the engine are V8s, which will be ZE? Someone correct me if I'm wrong there]

The 6015 means that it's an engine part (part of the 06000 series of parts)

The 15 in the 6015 I believe means that it's an engine.

I can't recall what's up with the A or B at the end... I know for V8 A would be a 2v motor and B would be a 4v, but I can't recall the 6 cylinder difference.

Phew! But yeah, go ask him for the first 4 digits of the casting code, should be C5DE if it's from a falcon or C5ZE if it's from a mustang.

Edit: Maybe the B stands for Block? I know some have E at the end for Engine. ??? Maybe...? Haha.

thank you so much... as i mentioned these Falcons and ford inlines are all new to me if it was a Ch--vy i wouldn't have any problems. LOL

thanx again

ok got all the #'s now..... i'm going on fri or sat to look at it but just want to know upfront what i'm looking at.

C6DE 6015-B

so that means it's from a falcon not a mustang? how can i tell if it's really a 200? you can see some red showing indicating a earlier yr. correct? man fords are so new to me.

thanx again

Color does not indicate the engine type since it could have been repainted.

I can see 5 freeze plugs so it it a 200.

In Ford's part numbering system the last "-A" or "-B" is typically a revision number of the part.

Danté,
glad to hear you finally found an engine; hope it was a good deal. It looks in good shape (lack of oil on the outside) and it's definately a 200 from the picture. This should be the one if it runs. What's the story behind it?

well i have picked it up.... i got the complete motor and trans for $100. i pulled the valve cover and it looks clean. i still need to pull the head.

my next question is looking at the picture what tranny is it? it seems to small to be a C4. is it a cruise-o-matic? will a C4 bolt right up to it? i have a C4 that came off a 289. i have the starter, convertor, and flywheel.

also it's missing the carb. what carb would be best for it? just looking for a very reliable and gas friendly daily driver.

thanx
