223 oil pan

Lowered my truck using lowering mono spring, but now the pan is touching the axle. Just touching the back of the sump. Really like the stance so I'd like to get it to work. Anyone know if a pan off a different year/model/engine that would work on a 223?

Probably should have posted this under suspension, but also forgot its on a 62 F100

You should also post this under "Vintage Ford Sixes" since this one is for the Falcon "Small Block" Six (144,170,200,250).

As far as I remember there were only 2 oil pans offered for 223's a car and the truck versions. The one in my 54 Customline is a front sump pan so would probably be worse in a lowered pickup.

Try looking at an oil pan for a 215 I-block 6 (1952-53). It should bolt right up to a 223, but I think the sump is in the front on the 215. NOT sure. Its been a long time.

How much did you lower your truck? I'm considering lowering my 62 F100 with 223 3 inches with an aftermarket spring and now you have alerted me to a potential problem.

Went 4.5 inches using a mono spring, 3.5 probably would have been the max. I ordered a 2" lowering block that i'll put under the spring, horefully that works.

Picture would help but a couple of ways. Cut out the section of pan that's too close to axle and than welding it back together. Depending on the suspension travel you will need 4 to 6 inches of clearance. Will be building an oil pan for my Fairlane racecar (has an Econoline front axle). For it going to cut the bottom of pan off 2-3 inches below the gasket flange and than make a new rear sump and oil pick up.

I have a 55 Ford pickup with a 223 and a rear sump oil pan. Finding one of these should be easier than modifying your oil pan. Also the rear sump pickup tube will not bolt up to a car oil pump thus you will have to use the truck oil pump, at least I did for the 55.
