250 engine

Would a 250 fit in place of a 170 in a 64.5 mustang or would it be too large?What modifications would I need to make if any?Would it mate up to the existing C4 tranny?

You'd need a V8 C4 or at least a V8 bell for your C4. The 250 will fit, but you may need to tinker with your fan spacer, and engine mounts. Look at Jack's original swap for some ideas. There is a lot of extra power compared to a 170, if you can "undo" any emissions strangling.

we swapped a 250 and c4 from a granada into our 65 falcon, basially the same thing. He's right, you will have to play with fan spacers, we ended up using an electric low profile fan to make things simple. If you can fab up engine mounts, go for it, it'll be worth the work. We used the stock granada mounts and had to get a low profile air cleaner as well, but it can fit.
