Hey all..

I'm looking to replace the exhaust in my 250 - I want to keep the stock manifold for now since I can't afford headers, but all pipes & a new muffler. Again, b/c of price, I'm also sticking to a single system, not dual.. Anyone have any recommendations on 1) a muffler and 2) what diameter pipes to use? Browsing around on here, it sounds like 2.5" is good for a single.. right? I'm looking for a muffler that will really quiet down the cabin - if I can still do that with a turbo type muffler that sounds decent on the outside, by all means tell me!!

Thanks all,

Chris

Does it need replacing? Quiet is the stock muffler. Increased performance comes with opening up the exhaust, improving flow. I had the Borla on mine but it didn't come alive until I added the header.

2.5" is too large for a 250. First, it won't fit your manifold. Second, you'll just loose power and increase noise. The Dynomax Turbo mufflers are very quiet at low and mid throttle oppenings. Go with whatever size the muffler guy can fit to your manifold. 2-1/4" would be ideal.

lol yea it needs replacing.. good story - I was driving down and old country road and ran over a sandbag someone put in the middle of the road. Bump was so bad it knocked the old muffler loose, then the right rear wheel ran over it.. By the time I'd pulled over, the tailpipe was sticking 3 feet out of the passenger side of the car! I had to rip it all out, and even if I wanted to put back in, the pipes were rusted and the muffler had holes in it. All that's left now is the manifold and maybe 2' of exhaust pipe sticking out of it. So.. yea, it needs to be replaced :) I was thinking maybe the DynoMax Super Turbo's. They're the cheaper and quieter one of the bunch, but still sound good - wanted to see if that is a good choice.

If nothing else I'll get that now and will dual it out w/ same muffler and some headers later when I get some $$ to burn, and I'll already have one line run.

Thanks all,
Chris
